Designing the Future and Building Tomorrow

The Academic Advising Association at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln is excited to host its 9^th Annual Academic Advising Conference on Thursday, March 3, 2022. This year’s conference will be hosted entirely through Zoom.

The 2022 AAA Conference will be held nearly two years since the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic and since the killing of George Floyd. This year we explore the creative solutions we put in place to keep each other and our students safe from both physical and social disease.

The conference committee has identified four concentrations within the broad theme of Designing the Future and Building Tomorrow: Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership and Development, Technology and Practice, and Wellness and Self-Care.

The Keynote speaker will be Dr. Shane Farritor!

Dr. Shane Farritor Shane Farritor is the David and Nancy Lederer Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is co-founded Virtual Incision Corporation that is developing miniature robotic devices that are placed inside the body during laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Farritor holds more than 150 patents and is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.

Shane grew up in a small central Nebraska town. He is an avid maker and woodworker. His wife is a physician, and they have four children.
